Sclerotherapy is a treatment for larger vessels than those treated by Vascutouch. In this treatment, medication is injected into the veins and pressure is applied to cause the vessel to shrink.

FAQs

Who Does the Procedure?
Phab Tasco, PA-C performs all sclerotherapy injections personally.

How Long Does It Take?
Treatment time for most patients is between 30 minutes and one hour. If the treatment in these veins is very extensive, it may take more time. After the treatment, your leg will be wrapped in a compression bandage, which you will wear for 24 hours, then change to a compression stocking.

Are There Any Risks?
The primary concerns associated with sclerotherapy are recurrence of vessels, skin pigmentation, skin ulcers, and localized clotted veins. The vessels treated with this method are considered superficial, and will not endanger your circulation.

Does It Hurt?
Unfortunately, this procedure can be quite uncomfortable. The injectable medicine is irritating and may burn as it is injected. This discomfort only lasts about 10 minutes. You may take Tylenol or Motrin before your appointment, but NOT ASPIRIN. Most patients do not experience any discomfort at all and gladly return for additional treatment.

How Much Will It Cost?
The price for the basic procedure is $200 with an extra $20 charge for additional areas. The entire procedure costs $250 for 1/2 hour session. Some patients may require more than one treatment.
